The Tempest MPV features advanced ballistic and blast protected armour. The vehicle boasts an outstanding occupant survival rate. It is built to the similar exacting specifications as the MRAP Cat 1 Cougar.
Used in Iraq and Afghanistan, where they have been able to withstand sustained IED/Landmine attacks.
The vehicle itself, is built to drive into danger and its reparability enables it to return to service within a matter of hours.
The planned role of the MPV was route proving and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC).
The donor platform for the cab and chassis services is the Peterbilt 330 articulated tractor unit, from which the front and forward rear axles were removed and replaced by a Marmon Herrington 4 Drive conversion.
The MPV is a modified Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) equipment procured against an Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR)
